ending9

a game i made in RPG Maker VX Ace, just because i had the software, and i wanted to release some steam from my more complex main project, so here we are!

ending9 is a sandbox adventure similar to Yume Nikki in terms of gameplay, wherein you play as Mackenzie (she/they), a green-haired girl who somehow woke up in a beach, with full awareness of their surroundings like they know just what they're supposed to do, and the goal is to get all 30 endings, just not that one.

like Yume Nikki, it's a pretty random and surreal experience, except it has dialogue, an overall humorous tone and somewhat of a plot going on.

some routes and endings are harder to attain than others, some endings are only attainable after getting other endings, interact with anything you can, double interactions do the trick sometimes. it's really an exploration game at the core

Features

• 30 endings, no more than that! :^)
• all default RPG Maker VX ace graphic assets, with a few edits
• little freaks made with the in-engine character generator
• open world that actively encourages you to explore
• couple mazes, but hopefully they not oppressively hard
• a little 4th wall breakage
• exactly one (1) battle that u need specific items in order to defeat the boss
• all original music! the only assets that are not RTP
• ^ it's randomized in the title screen and main map
• fishing minigame!!!!!!!!!

Instructions

• arrow keys to move and use UI
• ENTER to interact and select
• hold SHIFT to walk even faster
• sit on the log beside your tent to keep track of how many endings u got
• hold ENTER during ending scroll to make it go faster
• there's no menu, you only get to save once you attain an ending
• if you can't land somewhere while riding the hot air balloon, try another tile

Warnings

• in order to trigger one of the endings, there's an area that may flash as you move through specific tiles. the colors change slowly but better safe than sorry, so move slowly too!
• bit of cursing, for season
• an ending that involves being eaten alive by a swarm of butterflies 
• some themes (tba)
